Composing more than 45% of the country’s GDP and providing employment for 20% of the island, the Puerto Rican manufacturing industry has been one of the most diversified, vibrant and attractive industrial powerhouses in the world for over fifty years. Enjoying a highly-skilled, experienced workforce, well-developed infrastructure that allows for easy communications in and out the island, and protection under the financial and intellectual property legal framework of the US, the country has provided a safe and stimulating environment for hundreds of foreign companies looking to base their operations abroad.

Aerospace Contractors

Small to medium-sized contractors are the backbone of the aerospace supply chain and represent a small but fast-growing segment of the Puerto Rican economy. You can find tool and die, harnesses, electro-mechanical assembly, and much more.

Do you know that the Department of Defense has long relied on small to medium-sized contractors to provide the U.S. military with a wide range of goods and services?

Without contractor support, the United States would be currently unable to arm and field an effective fighting force.

At over $100 billion of annual funding, the procurement title represents about 20% of the base defense budget. DOD uses these funds to buy several different types of goods and services, including:

  • New items such as aircraft, ships and armored vehicles and other equipment like radios and satellites;
  • Upgrades to existing equipment and remanufacturing of vehicles;
  • Support equipment and components for major systems;
  • Weapons and ammunition from air-to-air missiles to rifles;
  • Spare parts; and
  • Classified programs.
